Liposuction, also known as liposculpture, is a technique to remove excess fat in certain parts of the body. The areas susceptible to vacuuming are mainly the hips, neck, arms, abdomen, flanks, thighs, inside of the knees and ankles.
It is performed by aspiration of fat through cannulas that are inserted through small holes in the body. This procedure can also be assisted by ultrasound or laser that help to retract the skin and dissolve fat to make its removal easier and less aggressive.
The most frequent is the presence of bruises, the larger the treated area, the larger they will be. These can last up to 1 month.
The inflammation takes a considerable time to resolve and the final results of the operation may not be seen until 6 months later.
Scars will be 1 cm. long in the places where the cannulas are inserted.
The operation is performed under general anesthesia and you must spend the night in the hospital.
A girdle should be used to reduce swelling and bruising for 1 month.
7 to 10 days of rest at home will be necessary.
